BESUCH DER LIEDER - THE COMPANY OF SONG





We are an ensemble made up of professional singers and pianists, all with an especially close relationship to art song ("Art Song" being the incomparably rich repertoire of music explicitly composed for voice and piano, above all during the Nineteenth and the first half of the Twentieth Centuries. The composers of these songs set poetic texts to music in order to express their own interpretation of the poems. This repertoire of song was almost exclusively intended to be presented and enjoyed in the home, or in private concerts: in the intimate setting of a salon or living room.

It is our intention to bring song back to life into this private setting. To be specific: in your home!

Experiencing the poems and music in such close proximity to the singers and pianists is remarkably intense and fulfilling. We are absolutely convinced that Song comes to life under these intimate conditions, because it means we feel the poetry, the music, and the stories and emotions they invoke, without anything getting in the way.
